I hate when my lips look dry, flaky, un-chapped, and just plain gross. It happens whenever I drink less water throughout the day and when I forget to apply chap stick. I end up licking my lips more (which is the worst thing to do as your saliva drys out skin and makes the dryness even worse) and nibble on my lips trying to remove the flakes. Gross, I know. But I'm sure there are many others who experience the same issue and I'll fill you in on a simple, rewarding solution:
How to fix dry, flaky lips & make them luscious and oh-so-soft
Step 1- Find an old tooth brush or small face towel
Step 2- Run the toothbrush or face towel under a faucet. Make sure whichever you're using is nice and wet
Step 3- Scrub and rub your lips with the toothbrush or cloth, ensuring you cover your entire lips. The goal is to scrape away all the dead and dry skin; kind of like exfoliation, but for lips!
Step 4- Dry your lips/face
Step 5- Apply a good amount of vaseline to your lips, to ensure they remain moisturized and hydrated.
& Voila! Super soft, sexy lips!
Here's a simple, natural, at-home recipe for a lip scrub that anyone can make:
DIY Lip Scrub Recipe
In a small bowl mix in a squeeze of vaseline, a drizzle of olive oil, a drizzle of honey, and a teaspoon of sugar (brown or white is fine, as long as it is crystallized, and not a fine powder). Mix. Scrub lips with mixture. Leave it on for a minute or so, then wash off. The sugar crystals acts as an exfoliant, rubbing away the dead skin, and the rest of the ingredients hydrate your lips creating a smooth and soft surface.
Bye-bye ugly, dry lips :)
